It is with great sadness that the family of William “Jack” Rees announces his passing on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the age of 89 years. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his children David, Chris and Margaret and his sister Gwen, in England. Jack will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren Robert, Cherie, Michael, Katrina, Andrew and Megan and eight great-grandchildren, Tyson, Brooklyn-Belle, Isaac, Rees, Scarlet, Sophia, Birk and Karver. Jack was predeceased by his wife Kathleen and sisters Vira and Doris. Jack was born in Wales and grew up in London, England. He served as an RAF bomber navigator during WWII. His RAF training brought Jack to Canada where he fell in love with the clear blue skies. In 1956 he returned to Canada to raise his young family. Jack enjoyed a successful career as the manager of King Size Photo Service in Edmonton. When he retired, Jack and Kathleen lived their dream of having a cottage by the sea at Crofton on Vancouver Island. After Kathleen passed away, to be closer to his family, Jack returned to St. Albert, where he was a resident in Mission Hill Village, River Ridge Seniors Community and the Youville Home. Jack always loved to chat and will be remembered with respect by all those he met. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jack to the Youville Home. There will be a private “family” service at a later date.
