On January 27, 2021, William (Bill) Peter Oshanyk of St. Albert, fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 92.
William is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Olga, of 61 years; son, Murray (Sandra); daughter, Shauna Garagan (Bryan); grandchildren, Noah, Adam and Samuel. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Peter (Doreen) Ponich of Lac La Biche, AB, and Paul (Diane) Ponich, of Grassland, AB and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Oshanyk; in-laws, William and Eva Ponich; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Fred (Doris), Nick (Sadie), Katie Serben (Tom), and Pearl Parenteau (Sam).
Growing up in Wandering River, AB, he was a devoted son to his parents and family. This devotion did not change, but soon encompassed his wife, Olga, and children, whom he loved deeply and faithfully.
He loved music and could play several instruments, and thoroughly enjoyed his trucking business by which he provided for his family. An avid sports fan of hockey and baseball, he played the shots and hits on TV, along with the players. He will be remembered for his laughter, outgoing nature, friendliness, and his strong faith in God.
The family wishes to express heartfelt and deep gratitude to all of the staff and volunteers at the Youville Home who ministered to him in the last several weeks and throughout the years he was there.
Donations in his memory may be made to Youville Home, 9A St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, AB, T8N 1K1.
A Private Funeral Mass and Interment will take place.

Olga, Shauna, Murray and families,
“Those we love can never be more than a thought away; for as long as there’s a memory, they live on in our hearts.” It was an honor to have known Bill, and a pleasure to have been neighbors in Smoky Lake. Bill will be remembered as the special man he was, hard working, happy, and extremely proud of his family. Please accept our deepest condolences,

Over one year ago, on January 27, 2021, my dad left this home here with us-a place he loved to be. His strong mind and persevering spirit wished him onward in this life, but his body could not continue further, even with his strong heart and lungs.
So I have you with me everyday dad, in thoughts and deep in my heart, where memories are cherished, recognizing the world of love and devotion you gave us during you life was so much more than I had realized…
May you be resting in the Eternal embrace of our only Saviour, Jesus Christ. Your witness of faith a reflection of your integrity.
We miss you and love you so much….Shauna and Bryan
