Passed away in Edmonton, AB on August 20, 2015 at the age of 38. He was the only child of Thomas and Ruth (Degen) MacKenzie of Bridgewater, NS.
He is survived by his two most precious possessions, his sons, Simon Bossy MacKenzie and Jaxx MacKenzie–semicolon– the person who gave him these wonderful gifts, Tiffany Bossy MacKenzie–semicolon– grandparents, William Degen, Bob and Betty MacKenzie of Dartmouth, NS–semicolon– uncles, Terry (Carmel) Degen of Fall River, NS and Stephen (Cheryl) of Springhill, NS–semicolon– aunts, Shaun Degen (Al Burnard) of Ottawa, ON, Kelly (Alan) Miller of Port Williams, NS, Maureen (Fritz) Krauch of Victoria, BC–semicolon– Jackie MacKenzie (Tom Day) of Porters Lake, NS–semicolon– and aunt, Vella Hall–semicolon– many, many cousins and a brother from another mother, Sheldon Bowers.
Billy was predeceased by his Nana (Mickey Degen), Aunt Cathy Degen Peck, and his cousin, Evan Matthews.
Billy loved his children more than anything and he loved life, making people laugh, and his Boston Bruins. Anyone who met him has a “Billy Story” to tell. He was born in Halifax, NS and grew up in Bridgewater, NS. He lived there until he moved to Edmonton, AB, where he joined Ironworker Local 720.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonton, AB on Saturday August 29, 2015 at 3:00pm at Connelly McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 114 Street, Edmonton, AB and another in Bridgewater, NS at the Michelin Social Club from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Billy’s memory may be made to a trust fund for his sons at TD Bank, Transit #02389, Institution #004, Account #660962.
