William (Bill) Tchir of St. Albert passed away on December 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Linda (nee McConnell)–semicolon– their two daughters–semicolon– one son and 6 granddaughters: Sheri Tchir (Chris Oram) (Alexandria and Veronica), Janice Schaffer (Brett) (Holly and Laurel) and Trent (Sheri) (Megan and Jordyn). He is also survived by 4 sisters: Mary Krykowski, Anne (Joe) Shaver, Nancy Hanson, Helen (Doyle) Collins–semicolon– 3 brothers: Peter (Alice Duma), Edward (Elizabeth) and Andrew (Debbie) and sisters-in-law, Annette Tchir and Brenda Kerychuk as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Katie–semicolon– 4 brothers: Ken, Metro, Henry and Larry.
Bill was born at Vilna, AB and throughout his career in the financial field resided in several locations in Alberta. He worked for the TD Bank for 23 years and for AFSC for 25 years. He believed in giving back to the community and was a member of Lions Clubs in St. Albert, Athabasca, Grand Cache and Wetaskiwin for 48 years and served as the Lions Club representative to the St. Albert Air Cadets. Bill was President of the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce and served as member or president in the other communities where he lived. He coached his son’s hockey and baseball teams for over 13 years. Bill enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing cards. His spare time was spent on camping trips with family and friends and vacations to Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Mexico, Panama Canal and the USA.
