It is with sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Bill after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Ev–semicolon– sons Rick (Marta), Brian (Cathy) Ron (Darcie)–semicolon– Step-sons Scott (Louise) Derek (Izabella)–semicolon– Step-daughter Susan–semicolon– Grandchildren Jennifer (Ted), David, Kelly (Kevin), Wes (Heather), Todd, Lindsay (Scott), Donovan and Samantha. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Madison, Macy and Isabella. He will be sadly missed by his twin brother Bob (Betty), sisters Joan (Ken), and Elaine (David) as well as his nieces and nephews and many friends, especially Ray and Roger.
As a young man Bill spent 13 years in the Canadian Air Force. Returning to civilian life he worked for Phillips Electronics the remainder of his career. He volunteered a lot of his time to various charity organizations such as ACT, Children’s Ability Fund, Camp He Ho Ha, as well as entertaining the many staff and residents at Dickensfield where Susan lives. Some of Bill’s passions included–semicolon– golf, fishing, enjoying the outdoors, travelling, and most of all making people laugh.
Thank-you to Reverend Heinrich Grosskopf who will officiate the service, which will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011, at 2:00 PM, Dayspring Presbyterian Church, 11445 40 Avenue, Edmonton.
We would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care at the General Hospital for the kindness and loving care given to Bill and his family throughout his final weeks. Thank you to Dr. Barton for his genuine compassion and care for Bill. As well, we would like to thank Dr. P Venner and Dr. M Chiu for the many years spent caring for Bill. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Unit 9Y of the General Hospital, 11111 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton T5K 0L4, would be greatly appreciated.
