Wally Wendel, a lifelong resident of the Stony Plain area, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2014 after a lengthy struggle with kidney disease. Prior to her passing, she resided at the Good Samaritan Spruce Grove Centre.
She was predeceased by husband Albert, brother Egon, sister Gerda, and grandson, Shane Wendel. She will be remembered by her four children, Terry (Sharon), Gordon (Wendy), Kathy Springer (Rocky), and Karen Menzies (Carey)–semicolon– nine grandchildren, Alicia Hofmann (Terry), Katryna Mayert (Dan), Kyle Springer, Samantha Menzies, Matthew Menzies, Abby Menzies, Breanne Wendel, Tegan Colban (Kyle), and Todd Wendel–semicolon– three great grandchildren, Madeline Hofmann, and Shae and Jack Albert Colban–semicolon– two brothers, Richard (Anice) and Lorne (Wendy), sister Loretta Riddell–semicolon– and sister-in-law, Rita Kulak.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to the wonderful, kind, and caring staff at the Good Samaritan Spruce Grove Centre, the renal unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and to her drivers. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Good Samaritan Spruce Grove Centre.
Visitation is scheduled on July 6 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Homes, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Stony Plain at 2:00 on Monday, July 7, 2014.
