Virginia (Gigi) Almeda Bitangcol, age 73, left us for her next life on Sunday, March 3, 2019.
Born in the Philippines on July 22, 1945, Gigi was born into a wonderful and very big family consisting of 13 loving brothers and sisters. Gigi came to Canada in 1966 where she was employed as an Elementary School Teacher. She retired as the Executive Director of the Beverly Daycare Society where she dedicated 38 years of her life. She loved her work and we are all very proud of her accomplishments.
Gigi shared her life with Conrado Bitangcol (Sr) whom she first met in College in the Philippines. Both would immigrate to North America on separate journeys, but they would reunite in the summer of 1971. Virginia went to visit Conrado in Portland. Conrado met her at the train station. She was holding a book entitled “Coffee, Tea or Me?” by Trudy Baker. They went to the cafeteria to have cold drinks where he jokingly whispered to Gigi ”I like coffee and tea, but I like you better”. This lead to their marriage on December 31, 1971. They eventually would call St Albert home and would spend 47 years together.
Gigi is survived by her 2 sons, John and Conrad Jr., and 7 grandchildren: Sierra, Emily, Hailey, Owen, Brody, Asher, Sawyer…and an upcoming 8th grandchild (a girl)! She also leaves behind her beautiful daughters-in-law Kristy and Tina.
Gigi was the cornerstone of the Bitangcol Family. She gave her boys unbelievable confidence that they could do anything. Gigi found it hard to say no to her boys. She loved them with everything she had. The boys were her life and this passed on through her love for all of her grandchildren.
Gigi passed away peacefully with all her loving family by her side. She will be sorely missed but we all understand that she is in a better place and that Heaven has another Angel.
