With heavy sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved son and brother, Tore Martin Purdy, on Tuesday, April 15, at the age of 28.
Tore will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Ray and Joyce–semicolon– brothers, Ray and Daniel–semicolon– grandparents, Roy and Elaine Nerdahl–semicolon– as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Don and Mary Purdy.
Tore was born in Edmonton, graduated from Strathcona High School, and began Law School at the University of Alberta. After Law School, he commenced his law practice, to his Dad’s delight, at Brownlee LLP.
Tore was a loving and caring son and brother. He was also a bright, inquiring, logical and active person. He took an avid interest in various topics, and was an amateur expert on statistics, history, geography, genetics, and of course, hockey. Through his blog Tore offered his unique statistical perspective of professional hockey. At Brownlee LLP, he was known as having a ‘beyond his years’ approach to legal problems. He was often called upon to assist with the review of legal issues in complex cases. He was honest and thoughtful, and would always give carefully measured and respectful responses.
A bright new star shines in the sky tonight. While Tore will not shine in our lives daily, we will be guided by his light from above.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 6 – 9:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. A Funeral Service to celebrate Tore’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at Robertson-Wesley United Church, 10209 – 123 Street. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at the Rich Valley Cemetery, Rich Valley, AB. All are welcome to attend any of these services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
