On Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the Edmonton General Hospital, Tim Jarvis (Thomas Glenn) passed away at age 57. Tim died peacefully, serenely and graciously surrounded by the closest women in his life – his wife Gioia, his stepdaughter Gina, his daughter-by-choice Kyla, and his little granddaughter of 4 years old, Clementine. Tim was predeceased by his father Thomas Ward Jarvis in 1978, by his mother Vera Mary Humphreys-Jarvis in 2004, and by his dearest sister Lynne Jarvis in 2010.
Since December 2000, Tim journeyed bravely and acceptingly, with hope and optimism, through the sequels of an acquired traumatic brain injury, and in the past 10 months, he also faced acute leukemia. In spite of his challenging health, Tim thrived on living with gusto and did so with passion to the very last instant. Tim was a Heavy-Duty Mechanic and Foreman with Edmonton Transit of the City of Edmonton since the early 1970’s. He was also involved with the Transit Credit Union for many years. Since 2005, Tim volunteered numerous hours with Edmonton’s Meals-on-Wheels and the Glenrose Hospital’s Corner Store. His genuine caring, brilliant wit and uncanny humour were much appreciated by all his clients and co-workers.
His absence will leave a huge gap in the lives of all those who knew and loved him dearly, especially his beloved wife and best friend of 23 years Gioia (Sallustio), his son Christopher, his stepchildren Gina (Peter) and Dominic, and his dearest grandchildren, Anthony and Clementine, and her mother, Kyla. His nieces and nephews, Danielle (Desmond), Mary-Lynne (John), Angela, Michael, Viviane, Caroline, Gioia and Arthur, as well as their children Stephanie, Dylan and Paige will miss him, as will his brothers and sisters-in-law Paul, Michael, Louise, Elvio, Danielle, Sandra, Silvio and Diane.
