Tim Chung Choy, age 65, of Spruce Grove, Alberta passed away peacefully at the University of Alberta Hospital on October 15, 2016, 12:30 am. He was born in China, Taishan of Guangdong Province.
Tim is survived by his wife, Chinling of 41 years, daughter Amy (Neil), daughter Bonnie (Arash), his son Darren and his loving grandchildren Nicholas, Lucas, Marcus, Kato, Maximus and Cora. Tim is predeceased by his father, Bing Choy, and his grandson, Milo Sharghi. He is also survived by his mother Poy Fong Choy, brothers Steven (Rebecca), Tin Fon (Jean), Way (Gillian), Fay (Coco) and sister Chorwon (Ron) as well as many nieces and nephews. Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a friend to all and his caring and sensitive nature will be missed by all.
Tim Choy was well known in the communities of Spruce Grove and Stony Plain as a local, hard-working restauranteur since the early 1970’s. He assisted in opening his father’s restaurant in Stony Plain, Bing’s #1, in 1970, and opened his own location in Spruce Grove, Bing’ #2, in 1975 where it prospered, leading to the opening of the current location, Bing’s Family Restaurant and Lounge, in 1996. He was well known for his passion for his business and his food. He was also known as “Mr. Fix-It” as he loved to tinker with anything that was broken or looking for ways to improve things and the way they ran. Tim was always there to help his family and friends if they needed it and his caring nature and legacy will live on in our hearts. He was always well-loved and respected.

Special thank you to Dr. Dinesh Wtharana for his exceptional care and compassion for Tim, as well as Dr. Mang Ma, Dr. Richard Owens and Dr. Marilyn Zeman. For those who wish to pay their respects, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home (10011 114 Street, Edmonton) with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Following the Celebration of Life, Tim will be laid to rest at the Northern Lights Cemetery.
