Theresa Mary Wettlaufer left this world on July 16 2017, sent off with the love of family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Carl–semicolon– sister, Bernice Thompson–semicolon– brother, Richard (Thelma) Bechtel and sister-in-law, Tillie (Bill) Garner. Theresa was a special aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She was “Grandma” to Sophie and Rachel. She was predeceased by her parents, Odell and Walter, her brothers Bernard and Jim Bechtel. And Carl’s family, Em, Helen, Werner, Henry, Bill, Johnny and Ruth.
Theresa was born in Eston, Saskatchewan on October 7, 1932 She was the youngest of five children. She spent most of her childhood in Prince Albert when the family moved there in 1933. As a child was very active and very determined.
She started her schooling at St. Paul separate school. The family moved to Edmonton when Theresa was 15 and she finished her education at St Mary’s high school. She was working at Walkrite, when the need for an extra curler on the company team brought Carl into her life. They married on June 23 1956, and within two years had purchased the home that they own today.
Theresa and Carl enjoyed many trips to Vegas and Hawaii. They crisscrossed Canada travelling to the many weddings and family get-togethers. They were a welcome addition to any gathering. Theresa had an enthusiasm for being with people. She loved all of us and it showed. She was a friend to many, and always a silent confidant. She enjoyed a good visit and a good laugh.
Though Theresa was not able to travel as she used to, as long as Shaw cable cooperated, life was good.
We will miss her smiles, her sense of humour and her unwavering support.
We are blessed to have shared this world with her.
