The peaceful passing of Theodore Toner occurred April 2nd, 2012 at Youville Home, St. Albert, Alberta. Dad you are forever in the hearts of your wife Victoria of 50 years, sons Marshall (Sherie), Greg (Linda), Patrick (Christine), and grandchildren Jennifer, Brett, Stephen, Charlie, Carson, Katherine, and Juliet. Also to cherish his memory, are sisters Helen Graf, Eileen Waltz (Ken Simpson), Doreen Toner, and brother Wayne (Fay) Toner, and sister-in-laws’ Irene, Lucille, Lorraine, and Agnes “Tiny” Toner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Theo was predeceased by his parents Charles and Julia Toner, sister Leona Anderson, and brothers Charles “Bud”, Philip, Lloyd, Ronald, Lawrence, and sister-in-law Joyce Toner. Theodore Toner was born on March 23, 1931 in Wakaw, Saskatchewan. Theo was raised on the family farm in Crystal Springs, SK. A child of pioneers, Theo learned the value of work on the farm at a young age. He enjoyed playing baseball, and was an accomplished ball player. Theo came from a musically enriched family, where a variety of song and instrumental talents were enjoyed by his parents and siblings. Theo loved old time music, and also enjoyed playing the fiddle. His early education was in the one room Trombley School near Crystal Springs. He continued his education at the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Saskatoon, where he obtained his Interprovincial Carpentry Certification. Theo’s work experience included Flin Flon MB, the DEW Line (Distant Early Warning) in the Arctic Circle, Cold Lake AB, the Dana Radar Base in SK, and various other projects. Theo eventually took over his parents farm in Crystal Springs, were he farmed until his retirement. He appreciated the simplicity and tranquility of the farm life, and looked forward to Spring when his favorite song birds would return. Dad loved social gatherings, fall suppers, and especially visits with friends and family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Youville Home, with a special thank you to Sister Carmen for her compassion and prayers.
