Terry was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, on January 27, 1936. He was the second child born to William and Locona Patterson.
He is survived by his loving wife Belle Ann, of 56 years of marriage–semicolon– and three strong sons: Bruce (Betty Ann), Terry (Lilly), and Jim (Andrea). Terry was a very proud grandfather to his nine grandchildren: William (Jennifer), Michelle, Rachelle, Kayla (Aaron), Deanna, Amanda (Logan), and James. Terry is also survived by his very special great-granddaughter Elisabeth (Lissy). Dad will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and many more grand nieces and nephews. Terry was predeceased by his father, mother, and sister June Ann.
Dad was one who was comfortable using both his hands and mind. He started his working career at SAIT, working his way to his Master Electrician ticket. He then attended the U of A, and earned his degree in Education. While continuing to teach, Dad completed his Masters in Educational Psychology. Dad worked for many years with Edmonton Public Schools as both a teacher and counselor. He was always proud of the time and opportunities working with his many students through his career. Dad also took some time to gain experience as a residential contractor and real estate agent.
The family would like to formally thank the nursing staff, Dr. Dusang, and each and every staff member of the Sherwood Park Care Center. The staff of every department exhibited nothing but kindness and compassion. Words will never completely convey our appreciation.
Final arrangements will be directed by Connelly-McKinley Funeral Homes. Terry’s Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30 a.m. on August 25, 2016, at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church at 6110 Fulton Road. Burial will take place thereafter at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park
In lieu of flowers, or other gifts, donations may be made to either the Sherwood Park Care Center, or the Alzheimer Society Alberta and Northwest Territories.
