A beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Tanis Elana MacKinnon left this world unexpectedly, at 39, on December 15, 2019. Born in Edmonton, Alberta on Nov. 17, 1980 to Robert and Gwen MacKinnon (Miller), Tanis grew up in Sherwood Park, and went to school at O.L.P.H, Jan Vanier, and A.B.J.
Tanis will always be remembered for her loving nature and adventurous spirit. She was always up for a challenge, and in her early adult years, she spent time tree planting and “living it rough”, and even tackling this endeavor in the country of Australia.
When she grew out of her tree planting days, Tanis started a career in the wine and food industry. She loved planning events and pairing wines with food, demonstrating a special talent for it. She was always dedicated to her work, and loved what she did, putting her heart and soul into everything that came her way.
But Tanis’ “true love” was her family and friends. She was fiercely loyal to them, willing to do anything to help and support those she loved. She made friends with everyone wherever she went. We will always remember her infectious smile, witty sense of humour, and caring personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
When you think of Tanis, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
Tanis was preceded in death by her grandparents, and her mother. She leaves behind her father, Robert MacKinnon; sister, Keira and Keira’s husband, Francois; boyfriend, T.J.; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
