
It is with great sadness the family of Tak Fong Yip announces her passing on February 02, 2016.
Tak Fong is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Kam Kui Yip–semicolon– four children: Francis (Irene), Angie (Patrick), Estella and David (Garland)–semicolon– 10 grandchildren: Derek, Alanna, Amanda, Vincent, Veronica, Manfred, Freda, Christopher, Curtis and Cameron.
Tak Fong was born in China on September 12, 1926. She moved to Hong Kong in 1948 where she worked as a school teacher and later on opened a kindergarten. Tak Fong was baptized in Hong Kong at the Church of Christ in China and had been a devoted Christian all her life. In 1976 she came to Canada and joined the Edmonton Christian Community Church. Tak Fong volunteered in church activities and acted as the principal of the church’s Chinese school.
Visitation will be held at Connelly – McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton, on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. in Connelly-McKinley’s Wild Rose Chapel. Cremation will follow.
Tak Fong’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Edmonton Christian Community Church members and the Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church members for their prayers and thoughts. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Edmonton General Hospital Dialysis Unit and the Edmonton Chinatown Care Center for their care and support over the years.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to the Edmonton Kidney Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
