The Honorable Stanley Gordon Peck, PCJ
It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley Gordon Peck announces his passing on Friday May 24, 2019 following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 76 years.
Stan will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Stanley was predeceased by his father, John; mother, Edith; brother, Neil; and Carol – his best friend and wife of 47 years. He is survived by his two sons, Gary (Toni) and James (Shanna); and four grandchildren, Brianne, Curtis, Nathan and Madison.
A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Stan attended the University of Alberta, graduating from Law School in 1966. Stan had a successful law practice in the Edmonton area with his longtime friend and partner, Bob Roddick, until February of 1998, when he was appointed to the bench of the Provincial Court of Alberta and was posted to Ft McMurray. Stan sat on the bench until his official retirement in 2014.
Stan was a man of integrity and lived his life with exceptional values. He remained passionate about his family and had a zest for life, but was happiest on the golf course, playing and coaching hockey, traveling, fishing, hunting and spending countless hours with his many Brittany spaniels.
Upon Stan–aphostrophe–s retirement, Bob Layton did a media piece on his time on the bench and referenced his exceptional character and strong moral compass. He identified Judge PECK as one of the good guys… Mr. Layton could not have been more correct.
At Stan–aphostrophe–s request a private family celebration will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.
