It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Slavka Colak. She was born on December 2, 1925, in Mokro, Siroki Brijeg, Hercegovina (B i H) and passed away peacefully at home in Edmonton on February 10, 2017.
Slavka will be forever missed by her four children, Alice (Edward), Anica, John and Mato–semicolon– grandchildren, Lance (Claudia), Jon, Jax, Jade, Joss, and Nicole–semicolon– and great-grandchildren, Cristiano and Nico.
Slavka will also be remembered by many friends and extended family members, including numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families in Hercegovina, Croatia, Germany and the USA.
She was predeceased by her husband Stanko in 1993, her parents Jela and Boze and brother Ivan and sister Drina.
Slavka was a loving mother and grandmother, an admired “Baba” and a trusted friend to many. She was a woman of strong character with a deep Catholic faith and devotion to family, friends, church, and community.
Slavka served as a respected member and a long-time volunteer with the Croatian community and the Croatian Catholic Church in Edmonton.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Nativity of Mary Croatian Catholic Church, 10560-98 Street NW, Edmonton. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Nativity of Mary Croatian Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton. Lunch to follow at the church hall.
