Sister M. Anna Kelly of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul died on September 30, 2012 at Providence Centre Infirmary in Edmonton, Alberta. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 20, 1923, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul on August 15, 1945. She spent many years as a Medical Record Librarian at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital, Edmonton, St. Mary’s Hospital, Camrose, Providence Hospital, Daysland and St. Anthony’s Home, Moose Jaw. In her retirement, Sister worked in Pastoral Care in Camrose. In 1994 she went to Rosary Hall in Edmonton until 2000 at which time she moved to Providence Motherhouse in Kingston. She then returned to Providence Centre in Edmonton in 2002.
Sister Anna is predeceased by her parents, Rose Ann Beesley and John Kelly, her brother, John and her sister, Kathleen O’Hanlon. She is survived by her sister, Nora Magleston of Vancouver, B.C. and her brother, Bernard Patrick Kelly of Victoria, B.C. Sister Anna will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephew, her friends, and by the members of her religious community.
Resting at Providence Centre, 3005 – 119 Street NW, Edmonton on Thursday, October 11 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the chapel of Providence Centre on Friday, October 12 at 9:00 a.m. Rite of Committal, St. Joachim Cemetery, 10504 – 117 Street, Edmonton.
