Grateful for her life of service, the Sisters of Providence announce that Sister Marie-Paule Vinet passed away at the age of 96 at Providence Centre, Edmonton, on February 5. Sister Marie-Paule was born in Clarence Creek, ON in 1921 and entered the Sisters of Providence in 1944, going on to serve the people of western Canada and Argentina and Chile as a nurse and in service to the poor, appreciated for her friendliness and kindness. Sister Marie-Paule’s loss is mourned by the Sisters of Providence, her sister Françoise Mallette and her relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents François d’Assise Vinet and Aurore Desjardins. The Sisters of Providence appreciate the loving care given to Sister Marie-Paule by the nursing staff at Providence Centre and the messages of condolence received from friends and former coworkers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the works of the Sisters of Providence are welcome.
Prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, and Father Gracjan Burkiciak will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Friday, February 8 at 9:00 a.m. at Providence Centre Chapel 3005 – 119 Street NW, Edmonton. Burial will follow in the Sisters of Providence cemetery in Calgary
