
The Grey Nuns wish to announce the passing of Sister Lucie Lefebvre of Youville Home, St. Albert, on May 3, 2022, at the age of 92. Sister was born in St. Paul, Alberta, on January 23, 1930. She joined the Grey Nuns in St. Albert, in August, 1950, and pronounced her temporary vows on February 15, 1953. Then, five years later, she pronounced her perpetual vows in 1958 at the Mother House in Montreal. Her first assignment was in St. Mary’s School, Cardston, Alberta as supervisor of children. Other places where she exercised her care for children was in Legal, Blue Quills, St. Paul, AB., Ile-a la Crosse and Beauval, SK. She then devoted some time to studies such as courses for supervisors, then one year as a licenced practical nurse. Her next assignments were in Ile a la Crosse, SK, Saskatoon, SK as a licenced practical nurse. She was also named as local superior for the Grey Nuns’ Infirmary in Edmonton, then later at Ile-a la Crosse, SK. Her last years were spent at Lac St, Anne, as hostess for the Sisters taking holidays. She was known as an excellent cook and especially her meat pies called “tourtieres”. She also volunteered time in helping at the parish of Lac St. Anne. In 2021, she suffered a stroke and was admitted to Long Term Care in Youville Home where she died.
She leaves to mourn her Grey Nun Sisters, especially her older sister, Sister Irene. Also her sister-in law, Germaine Lefebvre, many nephews and nieces. Our condolences to her best friend, Cathy Duholke, who cared for her in a special loving way.
Reverend Ed Kosa, OMI, will celebrate a Funeral Mass on May 10, 2022 at 10 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at Connelly-McKinley Chapel, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB. Interment to follow at St. Albert Catholic Cemetery.

May you find some comfort in the fond memories you have of her – “a life well-lived”.
I regret being unable to attend her funeral service to pay my respect.
