With faith and hope in the mercy of our God, the Grey Nuns announce the passing of Sister Hélène Desmarais at Youville Home, St. Albert, AB on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 88 years.
Sister Hélène was born in St. Paul, AB on August 15, 1928. She joined the Grey Nuns in 1947 and pronounced her vows on August 15, 1949. Sister Hélène served as a nurse in hospitals of Alberta, Saskatchewan and the N.W.T. She also fulfilled administrative responsibilities in her nursing profession. Sister Hélène’s availability to serve knew no bounds and many people expressed their gratitude for her genuine dedication. Her fervent prayer life was the foundation of her presence to others.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters Leonor Lozano from Hayward, California–semicolon– Denise(Emile Lefebvre) from Kamloops, B.C.–semicolon– Vivian Vandael from Edmonton, AB–semicolon– a sister-in-law, Joyce Desmarais from Sechelt, B.C., as well as nieces and nephews.
The Grey Nuns express their gratitude to the nursing staff of Youville Home in St. Albert for their constant and compassionate care for Sister Hélène.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Maurice Joly, OMI at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Connelly-McKinley Chapel, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. Interment will follow at St. Albert Catholic Cemetery.
