Grateful for her life of service, the Sisters of Providence announce that Sister Germaine Perron (Sr. Gabrielle) passed away at the age of 92 at Providence Centre Infirmary, Edmonton, on October 12, 2013.
Sister Germaine was born in St. Stanislas-de-Champlain, Quebec in 1921 and entered the Sisters of Providence in 1939, going on to serve the people of western Canada as a child care worker and clerical worker, appreciated for her kindness. Sister Germaine ministered in St. Augustine Mission, Peace River–semicolon– St. Bernard Mission, Grouard–semicolon– Lacombe Home and Father Lacombe Nursing Home, Calgary–semicolon– and Providence Centre, Edmonton.
Sister Germaine’s loss is mourned by the Sisters of Providence and her niece and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Armand and Bernadette Perron and her eight siblings.
The Sisters of Providence appreciate the loving care given to Sister Germaine by the nursing staff at Providence Centre Infirmary, and the messages of condolence received from relatives and former coworkers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the works of the Sisters of Providence are welcome.
