Sister Elizabeth Kass passed away at Providence Centre, Edmonton, Alberta on February 11, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa USA in 1933. She entered the Sisters of Our Lady of Seven Dolors in 1959 and transferred her vows to the Sisters of Providence in 2004. She spent her life in education and pastoral care to the deaf in Montreal and Edmonton. She was greatly loved and appreciated for her dedication and care to the deaf community. She leaves to mourn her loss the Sisters of Providence, the Sisters of Our Lady of Seven Dolors, her sisters–semicolon– Gertrude (Clarence) Dietz of Iowa, Juanita (William) Tigges of Iowa, Mary Cecilia of Arizona, her brother Nicholas of Iowa, her sister-in-law Jean of Indiana, her Godson Robert Kass of Michigan, numerous nieces and nephews, members of the St. Mark’s Parish, and good friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Cecilia Kass, and her brother John. In lieu of flowers, donations to the works of the Sisters of Providence are welcome.
Prayers will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 6:30 p.m., and Father Joseph Bruce, SJ and Father Matthew Hysell will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Providence Centre Chapel 3005 – 119 Street NW, Edmonton. Burial will follow in the Sisters of Providence Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta.
