
On January 15, 2013, Sister Aurore Marien peacefully passed away at Youville Home, St. Albert. Born in Palo, Saskatchewan, on February 2, 1919, she joined the Grey Nuns in 1943. For nearly 70 years, she provided compassionate nursing care as a bedside nurse and hospital supervisor in Alberta and Saskatchewan. She also cared for handicapped children at Elmwood Home in Saskatoon. As a community leader, she was known for her kindness and understanding. She was an excellent group leader and loved to gather the Sisters for Bible sharing.
Sister Aurore will be remembered by her Sisters, the Grey Nuns, her sister Joan (Eugene) Miller, brother Antonio (Gisèle) Marien–semicolon– sisters-in-law Anne Marien and Yvette Marien, her nieces Stella, Lillian and Norah and many friends.
The Grey Nuns express their deep gratitude to the nursing staff of Youville Home, St. Albert, for their dedicated and caring service throughout Sister Aurore’s illness.
Father Stan Liska, CSsR, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 18, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Youville Home Chapel, 9A St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, AB. Internment to follow at St. Albert cemetery.
