It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Simone Marie Semeniuk of Morinville on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 67 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Ihor; children, Jackie (Ashif) Kassam and Tania Semeniuk; granddaughters, Soraya and Ahnika Kassam; brothers: Victor (Zoe) Wiart, Charles Wiart, Henry (Aline) Wiart, Richard (Debbie) Wiart; sisters: Alice Morel, Louise (Alain) Jubinville, Claudette Gorgichuk, Frances Wiart, Marie (Gilbert) Funk, Rosa (Don) Weber, Germaine (Maurice) Pelletier, Rita (George) Stegerman; sister-in-law, Diane (Frank) Skinner as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be dearly missed by her friends at the Morinville Centennial Community Garden Society, Grandmas helping Grandmas, Red Hats, Morinville Catholic Women’s League, Terra Pines Golf Club, and St. Albert Senior’s Bowling League.
She was predeceased by her brother, Leon Wiart; parents, John and Cecile Wiart; brothers-in-law, Roman Semeniuk and Leonard Gorgichuk and sister-in-law, Brenda Wiart.
She was born in Galahad, Alberta on December 7, 1952 and grew up on a farm near Alliance, Alberta. She graduated from Sedgewick Composite High School in 1970, received her Nursing Assistant diploma in Edmonton in 1972 and was married June 24, 1972. She was a resident of Morinville for 44 years, where she raised her family and once her children were grown, she enjoyed taking care of many residents while working at Youville Home in St. Albert. She was an active member of the St. Jean Baptiste Parish in Morinville and was a familiar face at many community events.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Jean Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 25, 2020. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions on social gatherings, only immediate family will be able to attend in person. The service will be streamed online for those family and friends who wish to participate in the service virtually. You can access the link from the home page on the Connelly-McKinley website. When it is possible to have large gatherings again, the family will arrange for a memorial service and luncheon.
