Shirley Head of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roy in 1995.
Shirley is survived by her son, Christopher–semicolon– daughter, Jennifer–semicolon– and granddaughter, Rebecca–semicolon– brothers, David (Edith) and Robert (Julie)–semicolon– as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Victoria as a child, where she met and married her husband. The family moved to Sudbury, Ontario in 1960 and to Edmonton in 1965.
In her later years, Shirley was a proud supporter of classical music in Edmonton. Not having had the opportunity to obtain a university education herself, she encouraged her family, including Roy after his retirement, to obtain university degrees and became a strong supporter of the Scandinavian program in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 8424 – 95 Avenue, Edmonton.
