Shirley May Jamieson passed away peacefully on November 4, 2014. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: John and Linda Jamieson, Janet and Owen Edmondson and Jeff Jamieson–semicolon– eight grandchildren: Michelle Jamieson and Colin Spark, Kathryn Jamieson-Lega and Roddi Lega, John Jamieson, Mary Kate and Bud Kelly, Monica Edmondson, Adele and John Olson, Elaine Edmondson, and Alex Jamieson as well as great grandson, Carter Lega. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1982 and her sister Cathlene McLauchlin in 1987.
Shirley was a crackerjack typist and secretary, beginning her career as Max Bell’s personal secretary in Calgary and ending it as secretary (and Life Member) of the Jasper Place Legion in Edmonton. In between those jobs, she was a full time mother and volunteer. In 1963, Shirley and Bill and their children moved to Nairobi, Kenya for a year – one of the highlights of her life. She loved to travel and spent many memorable vacations with family in England, Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba. She loved to fish, garden, do crossword puzzles, shop in antique stores and at garage sales, and was every dog’s friend. She was extraordinarily generous and thought the best of everyone. She will be missed.
