Our beautiful daughter, Shea-Lynn Marie McGaw, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2021 at the young age of 16. She is survived by her loving parents, Todd and Brenda; brother, Aiden; and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shea-Lynn was an accomplished student first at Sir Alexander Mackenzie, then Lorne Akins, and finally at Bellerose Composite High School, where she was completing her grade 10 year. Throughout her life, she was active in many sports including track and field with the St. Albert Mustangs and various school teams such as the Running Room Indoor Games and rugby. She also had a love for volleyball and was very much looking forward to playing with her friends at school and the St. Albert Sturgeon Volleyball Club this year.
The joy Shea-Lynn brought to her world of family, friends, classmates, coaches, and fellow athletes will never be forgotten. She was a loving, compassionate person with a radiant smile and tender blue eyes that warmed up any room she entered, a warmth that was said to be felt even through a Covid mask.
Appropriately nicknamed “Cindy Lou Who” by family and friends, her spirit was kind, adventurous, fun-loving, and always sparkled with energy and determination. While fiercely independent and mischievous at times, she loved to let loose and be silly with those she felt most comfortable with. She was truly beautiful inside and out.
Did our girl like sweets? You bet she did! She was most known for consuming large amounts of nibs, licorice or cake, but was also often found making and delivering baked goods to her friends. A testament to her giving nature.
Because Shea-Lynn was loved by so many and felt a deep connection with “lake life” back in BC, we will be waiting until such a time presents that we can celebrate her greatness there.
Love you to the moon and back our sweet baby girl. We will miss you always. Your light was so bright it will never fade for us my love.

Todd, Brenda, and Aiden,
I had the privilege of teaching Shea-Lynn for 3 years in Foods & Fashions at Lorne Akens. My sincere condolences go out to you all on the loss of a beautiful soul. I will never forget Shea-Lynn in her first year of grade 7 on St. Patrick’s day sporting a green sparkling headset, green shorts, and green regalia to celebrate the day. Her confidence and zeal were apparent in her first year in Junior High. Shea-Lynn was one of my brightest lights in the classroom, whether she was baking up something in the kitchen or creating a sewing project, she was always a positive energy in the room. Her smile, and sparkling blue eyes would light up her face.
I would always look forward to watch her creativity blossom in the classroom while she was sewing, baking, or cooking. I could always count on Shea-Lynn to taste and eat not only her baked treats but anyone else’s who offered up theirs! She was always so passionate to jump into the kitchen lab to bake!
I was also fortunate to witness Shea-Lynn around her classmates and friends for 3 years in my classroom. Shea-Lynn was a nurturer, a kind-hearted girl who would listen to her friend’s problems and offer a gentle nod of her head or a quiet and reassuring hug. Shea-Lynn has touched so many people who have had the privilege of being around her with her grace, her compassion, and her positive sparkle. She will always hold a place in my heart.
I will never forget her beautiful smile.
Always in my prayers,
Mrs. Cynthia Dyer

I am so sorry for your loss, I am a childhood friend of Shea-lynn from kindergarten, her and I used to be best friends and i’ve just heard about her passing. I remember being in the newspaper with her when we made a giant snowball after school one day. She was such a kind person, and the memory of her will always be cherished.
