The children of Ruby Dolores Stanek Arsenault wish to express their profound gratitude to the many people who responded to their Mother’s prayer service on August 30 and her funeral on August 31, both held at Our Lady of the Angels church in Fort Saskatchewan. Dear relatives and friends, you telephoned, you e-mailed and you travelled from Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and from many centres, both near and far in Alberta, to offer condolences and to say your final farewells to Mom. Your presence, together with your verbal and written expressions of sympathy, your wonderful flowers and your generous donations to Mom’s charity, brought great comfort to our family and truly helped us to celebrate Mom’s life.
In keeping with Mom’s wishes her funeral service, both dignified and moving, took place within the framework of a Roman Catholic Mass, concelebrated by Father Francis Mariappa, Father Ashok Mascarenhas and Father Donald Stein. The musical prelude was played by Marlis Gunderson. Lead by her son, Robert, grandson, Ken Polansky Jr, daughter-in-law, Evelyn and granddaughter, Camille MacDonnell, Mom’s four chosen hymns were sung: “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” The readers were her sons, Dale and Ron–semicolon– the prayers of the faithful were read by her grandchildren, Brad Arsenault, Patti DeVincenzi, Cameron Polansky and James Arsenault–semicolon– and the Communion gifts were presented by her sons, Richard, Michael and Ken. Prior to the Mass, the eulogy was given by her daughter, Linda Arsenault. The presence of the Catholic Women’s League in the form of a guard of honour carrying lighted candles was a particularly meaningful tribute to Mom, which the family keenly appreciated.
As a family we are forever indebted to our sister, Mary Beth Polansky, and her husband, Ken, as well as their children and grandchildren for the loving care they administered to our dear little Mom’s needs, comfort and well-being—on a daily basis—over the past years. You have our deep and lasting gratitude.
