Ron Maloney died peacefully on December 10, 2019 at the age of 77, surrounded by loved ones.
Ron is survived by his wife, Bernadette; daughters, Paula (Wayne) Maloney and Vanessa (Gord) Jones; grandchildren, Eric and Alannah Jones; brother, Michael (Tracy) Maloney; sisters, Linda Maloney Onofrychuk and Janet (Ken) Richard, as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Germaine Maloney.
Ron was born on January 30, 1942 in Edmonton, Alberta. When he was about 19, he began working at Chemical and Geological Laboratories collecting field samples and eventually retired as president of the company many years later. Ron married Berna, the love of his life, on July 8th, 1967. He welcomed his beautiful daughters, Paula and Vanessa, on January 5, 1968 and April 15, 1971, respectively.
Ron had a fierce love of the Edmonton Eskimos. He collected and organized hundreds of DVD’s, and built an incredibly detailed model railroad. He was a big fan of the Star Trek series and loved old movies, his favourite being Casablanca.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 5105 45a St, Leduc, AB, on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Michael’s Planning for Tomorrow program.
