It is with deep sorrow and much sadness that the family of Rod Sveinson announce his passing at the age of 70 years.
Rod will be ever remembered by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Betty; daughter, Krista and son, Erik; grandchildren: Malaika and Safia and brother, Bill (Marilyn).
Rod is predeceased by his father, Karl; mother, Wilma and sister, Karla (Bob). He is also lovingly remembered by four brothers-in law: Walter (Iris), Mel, John (Cathie), Randy; and four sisters-in-law: Carol, Edna (Willie), Lil (Ed) and Mona (Jerry) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rod grew up in rural Saskatchewan. After a brief service with the RCMP in downtown Vancouver, he felt his country roots calling him back. Because of his love of sports and mentoring he pursued a career in Education. His career in education lasted 34 years until his retirement in 2009. Through his many years of teaching he was often sought out by past students who wanted to share their success stories with him. As well as spending most of his time with his family, he enjoyed his annual retreat to the mountains and “his beach” in Penticton. He enjoyed sharing stories and his “worldly words of wisdom” with his family and friends. His family could always count on him for support through every aspect of life. He had a big heart and got pleasure out of helping others until he could no more.
Interment and Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held at a future date due to the requirements of social distancing.
In lieu of flowers and/or donations; in this difficult time that we are all in, Rod would have wanted everyone to spend quality time with their family and friends.
