I offer this condolence with a heavy heart. Phil and I met at Grande Cache way back in 1971. He had a good sense of humour and quick to stand up for anyone he thought was being picked on, he became Union President of the STEEWORKERS UNION LOCAL 7621. He was known for his forthright manner, He became known all over Canada because of his Union activities. It was a real pleasure to have worked with Phil over the years, he will really be missed. FROM THE WOOD FAMILY.
ARTHUR, BETTY. GARY, Malcolm, Peter, David, and Diane.

I met Phil in mid 70’s he was a strong voice for the Local 7621 he never turned away from any challenge and asked those around to support their brothers and sisters with all their heart and Sole.
He loved his little dogs and we would see him walking 4 or more of them at a time.
If you were willing to learn Phil was eager to teach,
Rest In Peace Phil

My heart is heavy with grief but I will always have my memories of your dad, he was a true example of a gentleman with a beautiful heart. Always having a chuckle and making sure I was towing the line. I will miss seeing him at coffee time at Shepherd’s Care, in the mall with all the mall rats having coffee, dressed to the nine’s waiting for the church service to begin. No one can take away my memories just as no one can take your memories away as a family unit.
God Bless You All

I was saddened to the core when I heard of Phil’s passing, I have so many great memories of a great man. I considered Phil as a true friend, I remember all of our many rounds of golf together, and maybe a few beers, I remember all the picket lines, I remember our trip to Grande Cache to pick up his van, I remember our trip to Las Vegas with Phil & Gwen. I last visited with Phil in Edmonton in 2015, we emailed one another weekly until the responses suddenly stopped a few months ago, now I understand why, hope he didn’t suffer. Until we meet again, RIP my friend.
