It is with great sadness that we say our last farewell to Brother Donatus (Petrus Josephus Vervoort) who passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the age of 83 years.
He will be dearly remembered by his family–semicolon– his confreres–semicolon– his many friends–semicolon– and especially by the staff and residents of Foyer Lacombe where he spent his last year.
He was born in The Netherlands in a little village in 1931 and joined the Brothers of Our Lady of Lourdes in 1949. For 65 years he lived the charisma of the Founder, serving the needy with whom he came in contact through teaching those in need of knowledge and meeting at a personal level those in need of an understanding mind and a warm heart. He was a deeply religious person who shared his spirituality with many. His beautiful personality will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Albert Catholic Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert. An Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery 14611 Mark Messier Trail NW, Edmonton will follow the church Service.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Edmonton Food Bank, 11508-120 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5G 2Y2.
