It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Paula’s passing, our loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. Paula Celeste Nelson (nee Zimmel) born in Barrhead, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 with family at her bedside, on Friday, January 10th, 2020, in Edmonton, Alberta.
The world is less bright without her unconditional love and unwavering support for all those who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of forty years, Stuart; four wonderful children, Matthew, Ashley, Andrew, and Taylor; loving sisters, JoAnn, Colleen, Karen, and Vicki; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Paula now joins her mother Pearl, father Harry, sisters, Jackie and Gayle, and nephew Nicholas.
Please join us in celebrating her life at 11:00 am, on January 17th, 2020. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Chapel, 4820 Meridian Street NW, Edmonton, with a Visitation taking place an hour prior to the service. Paula will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
In honor of Paula, we ask that you wear something pink in attendance at her funeral, the colour that made her shine her brightest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the COPD foundation.
We thank you all for your love and support at this sorrowful time.

Stuart and family
It seems like only yesterday that we would meet up with the Nelson and Zimmel families at Alberta Beach, just across the lane from the Ploof’s… We have great memories of Paula’s impeccable grace and kindness, many nights sitting out together around the firepit trading laughs, relaxing and most of all enjoying our families. While our lives have moved on from summers at Alberta Beach, our fond memories of Paula and the special time our families spent together will be with us forever.
Please accept our most sincere sympathies and best wishes
