Paul Alexander Liber

Liber Paul Photo Obituary 1

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Paul Alexander Liber. A much loved husband, father, grandfather (Gpa), great-grandfather (Ggpa) and friend, on June 18, 2022, at the age of 83.

Paul will be forever, lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeannette; of almost 62 years, daughter, Christine (John) Laschuk; and sons, Robert (Kara), and Brian. Left to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren: Kelsey (Michael) Whattam, Jascelyne Laschuk (Phil De Paoli), Quintin Laschuk, Paige (Taylor) Osterman, Grace Liber, Jacob Liber and Matthew Liber; four great-grandchildren: Emmett, Kierra, Matteo and Alessandro; who brought so much joy to his heart.

He is survived by two sisters, Helen (Georges) Coulombe, Angela (Fred) Fisher, two brothers, Greg Liber (friend Denise) Liber and Ignace Liber and sister-in-law Colleen Liber, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will always be remembered as a kind and humble, devoted family man and loyal friend.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Alexandra Liber; two sisters, and brother-in-laws, Josephine (Karol) Ilnicki, Stella (John) Bahry; two brothers, Anton Liber, Stanley Liber; and sister-in-law, Judy Liber.

Paul had a strong work ethic, a desire to learn and a will to improve himself and the world around him. His career with Alberta Treasury Branches, now known as ATB Financial, spanned 35 years, which saw him and his family living in many towns and cities in Alberta. One specific move saw him relocate from one end of the province to the other, from Cardston to Peace River.

One of Paul’s passions was his deep involvement with the Knights of Columbus organization. He became a member in 1960, holding various positions ranging from Grand Knight at a Council Level, Faithful Navigator at the Fourth Degree Level and District Deputy. He continued to be an active member of the Honour Guard.

The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Andrew Spak, Dr. Hatim Karachiwala, AHS Palliative Care, as well as Sammy and Unit 51 at the Grey Nuns Hospital for their compassion, care and support.

Prayer Services will be held at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home located at 10011 –114 Street, Edmonton on Wednesday, June 22nd at 7:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at 210 Haddow Close NW, Edmonton, on Thursday, June 23rd at 11:00am.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to consider making a donation in his
memory to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.

Our prayers and condolences to you Jeanette, and family…..
What an honour for you to have Paul celebrated at the church dinner a few weeks back, for his quiet and gentle hard work with the Knights…he always had a smile of friendliness and acknowledgement, for anyone he met…
You both together were a dynamic duo with your work in helping others, and the Parish….
Paul was firstly a family man….a fine example of husband and Dad and grandpa….
May God comfort you and your family, Jeanette…
