Our mother died peacefully in her recliner at home on Thursday, October 24, 2019, in her 93rd year. She was born September 21, 1927, in Edmonton, to Neil and Margaret Devlin. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Peter, her children Meg (Jim) Young, Shane (Joanne) Homan, Nora (John) Bray, and Elizabeth Laidlaw (Pat Palumbo), her six grandchildren – Tricia (Richard) Laffin, Kate (Matthew) Galvin, Douglas and Stephen Laidlaw, Travis and Tyler Homan, and four great grandchildren – Chelsea and Jacob Laffin and Jack and Clare Galvin. In their retirement, Pat and Peter travelled the world. Pat was an avid collector of both antique and modern dolls, and made close friends in several doll and miniature clubs. Her mind was sharp and her memory remarkable. She read, on average, a book a day; she followed politics and had an opinion. She was an optimist with a wicked sense of humour and we shall all miss her terribly. The family wishes to thank our mother’s close group of friends at St Andrews who supplied her with books, baked treats, and wonderful companionship. We are grateful to Dr. H. Sidhu for his compassionate care.
An informal celebration of life will be held Tuesday, October 29th, at 2:30 pm in the atrium of St. Andrew’s Seniors’ Centre, 12720-111 Avenue.
