On December 20, 2010, Nadia McMillan passed away peacefully at Royal Alexandra Hospital with her daughters by her side.
Nadia, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, was predeceased by her husband, Murray in 1986. She will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Lesley McMillan and Candice McMillan of Edmonton–semicolon– sister Lillian (Henry) Kwasny of Waskatenau–semicolon– her nieces and nephews and their families, and her dear friends. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Harry and Sarafina Kowalchuk and brother, Steve Kowalchuk.
Nadia came to Canada with her family from Poland as a baby, and was raised on a farm near Boyle, Alberta. As a young woman she moved to Edmonton where she met and married the love of her life, Murray McMillan, and they raised their two daughters together. Nadia was a devoted mom and constant source of love and support to her family. She was active in volunteering for her church and community. Through the years she enjoyed gardening, golf, and ballroom dancing. Her kind heart, gentle disposition, easy laugh and sense of humour endeared her to those who knew her. Family and friends were the light of Nadia’s life.
A Celebration of Nadia’s Life will be held at Chalmers-Castle Downs United Church, 12315 – 132 Avenue, on Wednesday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m., Reverend Stuart Jackson officiating.
Her daughters extend heartfelt thanks to Units 51, 52, 53 and Palliative Care staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their care and compassion over the past several months–semicolon– and to friends and family for their ongoing love and support.
If friends so desire, donations in Nadia’s memory may be made to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
