Maurice had a 50 year career in the oilfield services sector. He started his career as a driller on a drilling rig which led him to live in many small towns in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He then owned his own trucking business and eventually was a partner with a service rig company. His last fifteen years before retirement at age 67 years, he was the sales manager for a service rig company. Maurice was adored and had many friends in the oilfield.
Maurice enjoyed carpentry work, travelling in his most loved motorhome, including wintering in Arizona and California in his retirement years. He is so known for his playing guitar and singing with his family. Country music and Elvis were his favorites. His music has made us dance, has made us sing together, and has brought us closer as friends and family.
Maurice loved his family and will be missed for his big presence in life, his laughter, judgment-free guy who always went out of his way to make the people he was with feel so loved.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 18407 – 60 Avenue, Edmonton, AB.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at Grey Nuns Hospital Palliative ward for their compassion and care.

Dear Aunt Colleen and family,
Very saddened to hear about Uncle Maurice’s passing. All I have is nothing but wonderful memories of one of the most jovial, life loving, family oriented, musical and fun seeking Uncles I have ever known!! When he entered my parent’s home for a visit with Aunt Colleen, his presence immediately filled the room with his positive energy, wonderful smile, entertaining but warm personality and his infectious laughter began!! What a fun man he was!
Wishing I had the right words to help mend your broken hearts with the loss of this wonderful human being. May our good Lord breathe HIS healing into your brokenness and grieving hearts.
All our love and prayers,
Colette Gibeau MacAskill and family

Dear Auntie Colleen and family.
Please accept our prayers for you and the family in this difficult time.
Our fondest memories are of finding you and Uncle Maurice anywhere in his travels and stopping by for a visit. He had such a big heart that was so tender and soft. He did make you feel so welcome in his presence. He greeted everyone with the enthusiasm and joy of a best friend. There was always warmth, hope and cheer in everything he said. He will be greatly missed at all family celebrations for he was the life of the get togethers.

Mr,. Gibeau (we couldn’t bring ourselves to call him Maurice) was a strong father figure for both Richard and I. Richard has told many stories about years spent together with the family including those in the backyard pool. We adored him and loved him dearly. Richard will always remember the last time he saw Mr. Gibeau….he gave Richard a hug….and the first ever kiss between the two. We count all of you as our family and send our most deepest sympathies and love. I’ll bet Elvis and Mr. Gibeau are already having a jam session.
