Martha Kalmbach of Edmonton joined her husband, Paul in eternity on November 7, 2015.
She was born in Mellowdale on October 17, 1921 and attended High School in Bruderheim and Barrhead. Martha received her teaching certificate at Normal School in Edmonton and taught for several years before marrying Paul in 1943. After many years of working on the farm, Martha resumed teaching. In 1966 they moved to Barrhead and started a cultured marble business. In 1973 they moved their business to Edmonton, lived in St. Albert and became active members of Grace Lutheran Church. Retirement was spent travelling, volunteering at Grace Lutheran Church, gardening and crocheting. Martha and Paul celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary in 2013.
Martha will be loved and forever remembered by 3 daughters: Sharon (Harold) Schmidt, Lorraine Kalmbach and Debra (Rick) Campbell–semicolon– 10 grandchildren–semicolon– 25 great-grandchildren–semicolon– 1 great-great grandchild–semicolon– sister-in-laws Emellie and Anne Lehmkuhl–semicolon– and many nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her husband, Paul–semicolon– her parents, Gottleib and Lydia Wagner–semicolon– sister Agatha Kalmbach–semicolon– brothers Ewald (Shorty), Arnold and Reinhold (Reiny).
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, 9907 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta or the charity of one’s choice.
