It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marguerite Ganderton, of Edmonton, on November 22, 2015 at the age of 87 years.

Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years, George “Dinny” Ganderton–semicolon– children: Connie, Russell (Jan) and Tracy (Don)–semicolon– grandchildren: Lisa (Ben), Sean (Dawn), Michael (Holly), David (Elyse), Monique (Sam), Angela, Christine (Cole), Amanda (Parker) and Carly–semicolon– eight great-grandchildren–semicolon– sister, Yvette of Calgary–semicolon– and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marguerite was predeceased by her beautiful daughter, Pamela and sister, Doris.

Marguerite dedicated her life to her family and helping others. She volunteered at the Cross Cancer Institute for 25 years, St Vincent De Paul, the Edmonton Food Bank and the CWL of St. John’s Parish.

Marguerite was born August the 8th, 1928 in Wainwright, Alberta to Theresa and Romulus (Rummy) Chartier. The family later moved to Black Diamond to follow the oil boom. In high school she moved back to Wainwright to live with her Grandmother. She met and fell in love with the boy next door, Dinny.

Marguerite’s family wishes to acknowledge the many dedicated and compassionate individuals who cared for her at the Lynnwood Care Centre this past year. They helped her pass peacefully with dignity and respect.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9830-148 Street, Edmonton. A private family Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Deepest Sympathy to the Ganderton family. I do not know your family, but my Mom does. Mr. Ganderton played for my parent’s wedding dance in 1946 (Dora Hissett and Gordon Fitzpatrick). We send you our deepest sympathy.

My thoughts are with your family at the loss of your mom (Marguerite). I enjoyed meeting her many years ago working for Russ and then we became acquainted again when she was my customer. I loved her spunk and enthusiasm. It was great seeing her pull up in her “retro” white Camero. I enjoyed our visits and always looked forward to helping her shop for all the special people in her life. She was a special lady!
