With sadness, the Chalifoux family announces the passing of Margaret Chalifoux on Saturday, December 12, 2015.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband Paul–semicolon– and her children, Rob, Michelle, and Dan (Shayla). She was predeceased by her son Richard.
Margaret was born on January 3, 1945 in Edmonton, Alberta to Lois and Lawrence McPhee. She and her brother Lawrence were raised in Edmonton. In 1962, she met Paul Chalifoux on a blind date. They fell in love, got married on Boxing Day in 1966, and settled in St. Albert where they raised their family.
Margaret was a devoted volunteer in the community. She was very active with Baseball Alberta and the St. Albert Minor Baseball Association and was honoured in 1994 with the OV Award of Merit for her contribution to the development of amateur baseball in Alberta. She and Paul were jointly recognized as Volunteer Citizens of the Year in 1987–semicolon– and in 2013 the City of St. Albert awarded Margaret and Paul a Community Recognition award in the Citizenship-Community Builder category.
A service to recognize the life and achievements of Margaret will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 1:30 pm, at Holy Family Parish, 75 Poirier Avenue, St. Albert, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret’s name may be made to the St Albert Community Foundation, PO. Box 65068, St. Albert, AB T8N 5Y3, or online at www.sacf.ca.

Dear Paul and family, we have such fond memories of Scott and Stephan growing up across the street from you! Marggie always so welcoming and friendly as was the whole family! In the years to follow we kept up with Marg”s progress whenever we had the pleasure to bump into you, especially at the St. Albert Market where she seemed very happy. How truly blessed she was to have the loving, dedicated and tender care of each of you. Thinking of you with warmth and care. The Messengers

Dear Paul, Rob, Michelle and Dan
I am so very sorry for your loss. I have been thinking of Margaret ever since I heard the news which wasn”t until last weekend. I met her when Ryan and Rob were in kindergarten. I remember her as always smiling and very relaxed around the children. Never a hockey game without Margie there lending her support. When Amber and Michelle were in Brownies, Margie was there to taste their baking efforts and compliment the girls. I always admired Margaret”s warm personally and I never heard her ever say anything bad about anyone or for that matter anything. She was a very nice person and I hope my memories of her will somehow warm your heart.

Hello Paul and family.
Perry had given me the news last Sunday. I told Leah and we both were very saddened, and watched for time of service. I just saw it in the gazette today so my apologies for not being attendance. Marg was wonderful and always always had a smile. But you know that…I enjoyed getting to know her at the casino but more importantly seeing the two of you at sorrentinos on the odd occasion…clearly enjoying and loving.
With very best regards, Gord Jackson

Marg has done more for minor baseball than anyone I can think of and we were blessed to have such an outstanding woman in our lives. Our condolences on the loss of your Margaret. Certainly the past number of years has been challenging. I remember the warmth and smile of Margaret back in the good old days in the District.
May 2016 be a time of peacefullness and good health for you.

Our thoughts are with you at this time. I would look forward to Marg”s telephone call to come over to umpire at a tournament in St. Albert back in the 80”s and 90”s. This lead to many a great conversation at the ball diamonds, and a good friendship over the years.
