Our beloved mother, meme, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend, Louise, passed away on August 29, 2013, at the age of 91 years.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, our father, Jerry, in 1987–semicolon– brothers, Tony, Henry, Emile and Charlie–semicolon– sister, Clara, and son-in-law, Gerry.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorette–semicolon– sons, Sam (Cindy), Leo and Emile (Connie)–semicolon– grandchildren, Michelle, Benjamin (Anastasia), Lucas, Julia, Joel, Megan and James (Sharon)–semicolon– and great-grandchild, Jaydan. She is also survived by her sister, Alice (Nick)–semicolon– many nieces and nephews and close family friend, Cal Chisholm.
Growing up on the farm Mom knew the value of a hard days work. Mom spent her life looking after and worrying about her kids, all of whom are now in their 50s and 60s. In her younger days she enjoyed curling, socializing, and partying. As a matter of fact the party really never got started until mom showed up, especially on New Years’ Day when she would enter singing “Mon Dieu benissez la Nouvelle Annee” at the top of her lungs. Dad and us kids feigned embarrassment, but deep down we all thought it was great fun. Her favourite song was “Good Ole Mountain Dew.” She enjoyed singing these songs and we enjoyed hearing them. Unfortunately Mom was tone deaf and didn’t know the words! Her sister Bob “Alice” was her partner in crime and would stand by her side and feed her the words.
Her family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Citadel in St. Albert and the staff at the Sturgeon and Leduc Hospitals for looking after our mother so well.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jean- Baptiste Catholic Church, 10020 – 100 Avenue, Morinville on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:15 am.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mom may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 10985 – 124 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5M 0H9.
