There are people that cross your path in life that leave a mark, even if the closeness fades.
As a young girl who was enamoured with Arabians and showing, I was given the opportunity to ride a stallion by the name of PR Alahbama. This horse had the biggest heart much like his owner.
Lorne Sarnosky was big hearted, fun loving, full of humour and hard working. I remember his laugh like I just heard it yesterday. He lit up any room he entered.
Unfortunately as he moved out of Arabians our paths didn’t cross for many years. About 8 years ago he heard where I was working and when I got to work, on my desk was a lead rope with a note – I know this is something you can always use, Love Lorne. My dad still had interactions with him a couple times a year and would fill him in on my continued craze for the horses.
He had a great appreciation for my devotion to the horses. Many of my firsts in the horses were thanks to the opportunity to ride that special horse. My first red ribbons, my first Top 5s, my first interaction with a stallion and my first western rides. My love for western pleasure and stallions started there. I am forever grateful for all of it.
I can only hope that his life the last years was filled with joy and that he knew how much he touched my heart in the years we spent so close.

I first met Lorne when he joined our hockey team which feels like a 100 years ago. He would become a good friend and later we would also golf together. I had a small business and Lorne sold me a coke machine and always gave me extra product at Christmas time. He also golfed in the very famous Murphy/Styles for years and made sure Coca-Cola was a major sponsor. The last I saw him was when he got into horses and I did plans for a horse barn for him. I’ll always remember him as a great teammate and friend who had a unbelievable great sense of humor. My condolences to all his family and friends.
