It is with sad hearts and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Leo John Fischer of Mayerthorpe, Alberta. Leo passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly, at the age of 89 years.
Leo will be forever remembered and deeply loved by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Sis–semicolon– children, Wayne (Wendy) Fischer and Deloris (Pete) Rizzoli–semicolon– treasured grandchildren Troy (Tara) Fischer and daughters Bryce and Branna, Shawn (Jennifer) Fischer and son, Hardy, Leanna (Curtis) Feser and son Keaton, and Dale (Orlene) Rizzoli and daughter Layne–semicolon– brother Bill Fischer and brother-in-law Jim Loughran. Leo will also be remembered by Allie (Linda) Haug and children Morgan, Kolbey and Lyrik as well as his very special nieces and nephews and their families.
Mayerthorpe was where Leo met the love of his life and chose to raise his family. He was passionate about farming and took great pride in his crops, cattle, horses and beautiful yard. He enjoyed teaching his family about life on the farm, making memories together and spending time with neighbors and friends. He may have been a small man in stature but his character, personality, heart and love for his family was enormous.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his doctors and the entire staff at the Mayerthorpe Auxiliary Hospital who took such wonderful care of our beloved Leo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 27th, 2017 at 12 noon at the Mayerthorpe Diamond Centre (4814 54 Street). Interment will follow at the Mayerthorpe Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

I am ever so sorry to hear that Uncle Leo passed away. He was always so loving and kind to me. And mom (Ruby) loved him so much. I tried to arrange to come out for the funeral, but I am in Ottawa this semester and can’t make the arrangements to enable me to come. Please know my thoughts are with everyone
