Jack was born in Hobbema in November of 1939 and was raised in Ponoka.
Jack married his wife Vera in 1964 and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage. They raised 2 sons, Robert and Grant and one daughter Michelle. Jack was predeceased by Vera in 2010 and is survived by their children, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jack was a career soldier with his enrollment in the Air Force in 1957 which he took a release from in 1959. He then joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) in March of that year. Jack had many postings throughout his career including Edmonton, Calgary, Germany, Victoria, Ottawa and Wainwright. During his time in Germany he became founding member of the 3rd Canadian Mechanized Commando Unit. Throughout his career Jack progressed through the ranks and retired as a Captain.
After retirement Jack became an integral part of many organizations including the Sacred Heart Church of the First People Council, the Metis Child and Family Services Society of Alberta, his Condo Corp, Knights of Columbus and the Aboriginal Veterans Society of Alberta.
