It is with deep sorrow the Dutchak family announces the passing of Ken on January 2, 2012 at the age of 59 years. Born in Winnipeg, Ken was the beloved father of Christopher, Heather, Ryan and Kathryn and husband of Irene. He is survived by his father, Louis–semicolon– sister, Dawn (Mark)–semicolon– two nieces and six nephews. Ken was predeceased by his mother, Olga. Ken fought a very long and courageous battle with cancer. As was Ken’s way, he remained eternally optimistic and forever determined. Ken’s life long environmental passion for nature contributed to his most cherished memories with his family and friends. Ken was an accomplished photographer who could always be seen with a camera around his neck. He had an artistic flair and was as adept working with wood and clay as he was with stained glass. His creative and multifaceted talents took Ken in countless directions as his playful energy knew no bounds. Ken was a true renaissance man. He was a dedicated family man and a tireless volunteer, particularly with Motorcycle Ride for Dad and the United Way. He selflessly gave of himself and was always the first to lend a helping hand. A Visitation will be held between 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Connelly McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 -114 Street, Edmonton. Dear Irene, Christopher, Heather, Kathryn and Ryan,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Ken. He was a great guy, good boss and a wonderful friend over the past 30 years. He was my co-worker and then my supervisor in the early 1980s. It was Ken who helped me return to work in Alberta after 15 years away in Ontario. If it were not for his support, my kids and I would still be struggling along in Niagara trying to make a living in a severely economically depressed area. He was my reference on more than one occasion and I don\’t think that he ever knew how much difference he made in our lives.
Thank you so much for the wonderful party at the Pint. I only wish that Ken could have been there to enjoy it too. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life.
Kathy

I was unable to attend the service and later celebration of Ken\’s life but wanted to send by heartfelt condolensces to the family, friends, and co-workers. I had the honour and pleasure of working with Ken on and off from about 1996-2006. I\’ll never forget when I started in the Edson office and Ken drove out with me the first time to introduce me to folks; what a gracious fellow. regards, Joan

I\’m very sorry that I am unable to attend the service for Ken. I knew Ken from work and worked a few wildfires with him. He was a great guy. I visited him a number of times at the Cross where he also helped me with the red tape paperwork of disability insurance.
May your memories of Ken keep him strong in your hearts.
Sincerely,
Tricia Hill
