On January 16, 2021, Kathleen peacefully went into the arms of her Lord and Saviour at the age of 76. She is reunited with her beloved husband Joao “John” (2010); parents, William and Janet Garland; and sister Josephine Katarius.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jack (Donalda), and Deanna; grandchildren, Blake and Samantha; brother Bryan Garland; numerous relatives and friends.
Kathleen was born in 1944 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She immigrated to Canada in the ‘60’s where she met her husband John and started her family. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and dear friend. She was very active in her community and church. She belonged to the North Edmonton Seniors Association, was member of the CWL, and enjoyed the company of the other exuberant ladies of the Red Hat Society! She played Bridge weekly, went for brunch every Sunday after church, and she was an avid globe trotter. Life was not always fun and games for her. John and Kathy owned and operated several businesses including a daycare, a tire shop, various hotels and bars, and more. After John’s passing, she continued to keep busy working as a receptionist at her daughter’s office, also as a travel agent, and worked with her son as a landlord. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, zest for life and fun-loving spirit.
