It is with great sadness that the family of Jozef announces his sudden but peaceful passing on Sunday, June 11, 2017.
He will be remembered by his loving children: Jerzy (Marilee), Maria (John) and Andrzej (Mary)–semicolon– six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends.
Jozef was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Jadwiga, just two weeks earlier.
He was born in Poland. Jozef was a young soldier in the Polish army. He was in the Second Corps in the Italian campaign where he fought in the battle of Monte Cassino during the Second World War.
After suffering through World War II and because of circumstances, his family settled in England as the war ended. It was there he met and married Jadwiga in 1950 and they were blessed with three children. In 1979, they came to Canada and moved to St. Albert, where he resided until his passing. At that time, Jozef and Jadwiga joined and were active members of the Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in Edmonton. Jozef had a really beautiful voice and enjoyed being a member of the Parish Choir for over 30 years. Jozef and Jadwiga also joined SPK #6 Polish Combatants Association, as well as many other Polish organizations. Through these organizations they met many new friends and enjoyed many traditional celebrations.

I am very sorry for your loss. Both Jozef and Jadwiga were very special people and I always enjoyed the time that I got to spend with them. My day is not quite the same without Jozef’s greeting “Nice to see you, to see you nice”. I will remember them both and their immense love for one another. They will be missed.

Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dear father. It’s hard to imagine the sorrow of losing both your parents within such a short time. Your parents were good friends of our parents, Stanley and Anna Labuda. Mom spoke so highly of your dad and was so appreciative of his phone calls and their friendship especially after our father died. Hopefully, they are all reunited in a peaceful place. We hope your memories will bring you comfort as you go through this difficult time.
