On February 29 2016, Joseph Oliver James Whalen of Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 88 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his companion, Hess Bakke–semicolon– sons: Warren (Donna), Joseph (Norine), Tom, and Liam–semicolon– grandchildren: Jevon, Jason, Michael, Tyler, Teryn, James, Kristen, Alyssa, and Bryce–semicolon– 4 great grandchildren–semicolon– and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Casey–semicolon– and his parents Joseph and Hermaine.
A private service will be held at the family’s request.

The loss of a parent can only be replaced by the memories you have. I remember Mr. Whalen(and yes I still call him Mr. wHalen!) as a good friend of the family,from the time I was very young till now as a grandparent myself. The times that he spent with my parents,and when mom would call him by his whole name when she was upset with him! wHen we came over to the house,they would have long conversations while I examined and counted all the mini liquor Bottles in the “rumpus room”. I wish you memories and laughter ,
