It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father and grandfather, Joseph, at the age of 92. Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Mary Theresa McLafferty, and daughter-in-law, Edna McLafferty, in 2018.
Joseph will be missed by his five children. Madonna, Joseph Jr. (Edna), Shannon (Phillip), Patrick (Sandra), Rebecca (John). Joseph also leaves behind six grandchildren, Bryce (Maggie), Elisa, Jacqueline (Michael), Justin, Alanna & Timothy.
Joseph was born in Edmonton, went to school and lived his entire life locally. He retired from a career with the Provincial Government, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active with the Catholic Church. Joseph loved doing things with his family and often travelled with him. He enjoyed curling, playing and coaching hockey, golf and was a great cook (especially barbequing).
A warm and appreciative thanks is given to the caring and wonderful staff at St. Michael’s Extended Care Centre where Joseph spent the last two years of his life.
Joseph will be cremated at a private ceremony later in September. His ashes, along with his wife Mary`s, will be buried locally by his immediate family. To view the live stream of the service, click Here
Memorial donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Michael’s Extended Care Center, 7404 – 139 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5C 3H7.

Please receive my sincerest condolences on the loss of your father and grandfather. Joe was a friend of my father and I still remember his warmth and kindness to us children. There was a sense of excitement and joy whenever Joe and Mary were able to visit. Small kindnesses to small children but that is what remains in the heart. Blessings on them both.
